Is my hard drive stuffed?

#1 Post by CyberDude » Tue Feb 14, 2006 5:01 am

My R51 laptop has started making a ticking sound from the hard drive when first booting up. It will then stop before getting to the windows screen and show the following error:
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting intel boot agent
Operating system not found.

If I then switch off and restart it will boot normally but still making the ticking noises. Once booted it functions as normal, no noises. I ran a full disc check using the Disk Doctor but it found no errors.

This propblem only happens on the first boot up.

Do I need to replace the HDD? I checked the cable and it's tight.

If it isn't the cable, then I am 95% sure that your HDD is, indeed, stuffed.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.
