power problem

#1 Post by robbobbo » Mon Jul 19, 2004 7:21 pm

Hi,

My IBM A21m thinkpad has lost its power. When trying to power it with an AC adaptor there are no lights at all on the notebook. The notebook turns on and works, however, if a battery is present.

What could be the problem? Could it be the ac adapter or in the notebook? And if it is wrong in the notebook's wiring, can using a port replicator solve the problem?

thanks,

robbobbo

The same happened with my TransNote. I replaced the AC adapter, and everything worked fine. Get one from Ebay.

Try the simple stuff first. Borrow another AC adapter (any from the A, T, X, R etc. series will do) and see if that works. If you can't find an adapter, see if there's 16VDC coming out of your adapter.
