Turning off Diskeeper on z60m

#1 Post by ibmdell » Sat Feb 18, 2006 10:58 am

Can someone tell me how to turn off Diskeeper? It doesn't show it's in the startup folder, no option to turn off inside the program so it doesn't keep flashing popups that I need to defrag since "only" 97% of my files are ok. Very annoying. Help please.

Disk Keeper

There is no wat to turn it "off", that I know of.
There may be a way to not have it check the drive status, or....
You can un-install it from the add / remove programs.
I have had good results from perfect disk.
You may want to look into it.
The other option is to remove Disk keeper and use windows built in defrag.

The Windows OEM defrag is diskkeeper lite. It is a good program. If you want to disable the service that runs all the time, go to start then run. Type in msconfig. Under the startup tab look for dkIcon, uncheck it. Under Services, look for diskkeeper and uncheck it. That will make it not run unless you start the program manually.

[start] -> [All Programs] -> [DiskKeeper] -> [Disable DK Monitoring]

Enjoy......!

Thanks guys. Worked like a charm. No more annoying popups.
