Question on Z60M

#1 Post by DataAve » Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:44 am

I have done a full virgin back up image, but what Z60M ThinkPad files do I need to back up in case of a problem?

not sure what you mean - it you have created the recovery media (start>programs>thinkvantage>) then this is all you need to fully recover the system to the factory state if the worst should happen

if you mean you have created a rescue and recovery backup then there is little point in doing this until you have installed your applications etc. as the hidden partition can already restore to this state so you are just duplicating and wasting hdd space

if your planning on installing from scratch then the c:\ibmtools folder should contain everything you need

I received my lappy, turned it on, let it do its' thing, then I did a backup. Meaning, I backed up the system before I installed anything.
, but what Z60M ThinkPad files do I need to back up in case of a problem?
Where are the driver/files so I can burn a CD with all my notebook drivers?

Yeah other than saving a few minutes (the time from starting up to the point where you took your backup - there is little point in that backup as you already have a factory state backup on the recovery partition - I would recommend making a set of recovery CDs though from the ThinkVantage menu.

All your drivers and files are in c:\ibmtools so it is a good folder to backup.
