R50p: CPU upgrade

#1 Post by gdaquila » Wed Feb 22, 2006 5:24 pm

Hi all,
I have an r50p (model 18322AG) and I would upgrade CPU.
Currently the notebook mount a BANIAS centrino 1600. The notebook chipset is Intel i855PM rev. A3.
What is the best CPU can I Install?
Can I use a 533FSB cpu?
Thank you!!!

533mhz FSB - No

Fastest CPU = 2.1ghz 2MB Dothan 400FSB. If they come out with faster 400mhz FSB then whatever that is...

Hi,
Thank you very much for response.
Please can you confirm me that ANY dothan cpu (not only Intel Pentium M 745) works?

This (Pentium M 765) works:
http://cgi.ebay.it/Pentium-M-socket-478 ... dZViewItem

How I can verify if the bios support the 765 processor?
A last question: cpuid tell me that I have a mPGA479 processor but on ebay I found 478 pentium m 765.... Is the same?

Have you tested anyone?
Thank you very much.
