Z60 Core Duo - When?

#1 Post by Plutoman15 » Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:50 am

When will the Z60 get the Core Duo chip in it? I want the wide screen but I won't buy one without the Core Duo in it.

Maybe when searching lenovo.com you should have search for Z60 and not T60 :!:

In short - I do not think you will see core duo Z series until Z61 and as the Z60 has not been out for long I think you will be another 3-4months before they are announced.

BigWarpGuy, the links you provided are for T series, not Z series.

I think we can get some clues based on the current rebate program going on.

Lenovo is clearing out old stock, with the promotion ending 3/14. I predict that shortly thereafter, we will see some Core Duo based Z series. The guys over at Laptoplogic asked Lenovo reps, who said that we will see Napa based Z60 series before the second half of this year.

yea, i returned my Z60t in hopes that they would come out with a widescreen that was dual core. i want a Thinkpad for development (C#) and i use Visual Studio all the time and i'm constantlyhaving to write stored procedures too, and a z60t can easily do it, but i want something that i can live w/ for the next 3yrs, at least. i thought they were pushing all the deals for the Z-series a bit much, and predict that they would come out w/ a DC Z-series either in the next quarter or the 3rd quarter, HP has already come out w/ the DV1000t, DV5000t, and the DV8000t, touting DC chips. Dell has released several DC laptops and will soon come out w/ a "budget" DC based laptop. i know that, Thinkpads don't belong in the same class, but if i was going to go after some marketshare w/ the multimedia laptop the Z-series is supposed to be, i suggest they go DC in the Z60's and get a dedicated graphics processor in there. HP is using the 7600 and i think Dell is using the 7800.
