Just got my new R52!! What should I remove?
What applications should I remove from my new R52?
I've literally just switched it on and there seems to be a lot of applications there!

I use Avast!, not a fan of Norton...Avast! seems to do the job on both my laptop and desktop...

I use AVG free, MS Spyware Beta (now Windows Defender, have not switched over yet) and the SP2 Firewall, have not had any troubles.
As far as what to remove, you should play around with it for a while, seems like every time I remove something I think is junk, like presentation director, my boss asked me to use my laptop for a video presentation at work, so I put it back.

Remove anything "Symantec" or "Norton".
I'm running Avast, Windows Defender, and the XP SP2 firewall.
I *DO* use Access Connections, however, I've got the Atheros WiFi, not the Intel. I actually use the default printer switching function of Access Connections, so...
Presentation Director is OK, not great. The presentation on ThinkPad & projector is just a mirrored monitor thing. BUT, I use dual monitor for my presentations - I use Presenter View in PowerPoint, now that I've got a multimon capable PC.

MS Spyware Beta comes up in spybot S&D as spyware and is find a lot less than spybot and adaware. you would be safer running those over MS Spyware program.

I've found the opposite, that MS AntiSpyware/Windows Defender catch a lot MORE than Spybot or AdAware COMBINED.
However, AdAware will install and run in safe mode without networking, making it the best in a pinch. The MS apps use Windows Installer, which doesn't run in safe mode, and Spybot doesn't come prepacked with the definitions, meaning it needs a network connection.

Well I know i ran SB S&D and found 9 bugs I didn't fix them as wanted to see how MS software did .. it found only 3 of the bugs.. doing a check I found that MS those companies did business with MS. So some how there were not taged as spyware as it was by SB S&D. The fact tha SB saw the MS prgram as Spyware tells me it spy on your system and MS dose this with a lot of there software and companies that work with MS so trusting my system to what they say are bugs isn't something I will do for my self. if you trust it find.. but remember this MicroSoft the copany that sends out more patchs for their OS than any software company in the world but keep telling you your system is safe. I would trust a third party software company over MS any day of the year.
I fix system daliy. I have to clean them up after bad software has taken over their systems . I have test tons of software and the MS anti-spyware isn't one I would install on my system or those who systems I work on.
SD has definitions where you fist install it but you need to update them due to the fact they were done at the time of the build on what ever verson you get (1.4 definitions are out dated because they are year or more old) the fact that this gose for all anti-spyware. the definitions tell them what is a spy and what is not. Not all definitions are the same and this is how some definitions get by, plus compaies like Gator have changed there file to hide so anti-spyware has to work harder to keep up.
MS isn't on my Trust fully list as for keeping bugs out of my system but if it works for you great.. but do keep check with other software..
this just my view I don't want to say This a final answer it just want works for me.
