modem driver on a R30

#1 Post by orck » Wed Mar 01, 2006 9:54 am

Hello gyus
I own a R30 (2656-64G) its description is following
Original description: PIII 1.0GHz (256KB), 128MB RAM, 30.0GB HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, 8x-3.3x DVD, Modem(CDC), Ethernet, Li-Ion battery, Win98SE

The problem I have is that I cant loate drivers for WinXP

In IBM site (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... idate=true) there is only one driver for XP but for AMR modem not CDC, I tryied all 3 versions for Win2000 but they dont work
any ideas?

Hi Orck,

I am afraid that link you posted will not work (not to worry, found the page based on your posted model info). Did you try the "Modem driver (AMR daughter card) for Windows XP - ThinkPad R30" (Driver Version: 3.1.97a (1.28) Release Date: 2003/10/31)?

Please note that you have to install the audio driver before the modem driver. Interestingly IBM refers to this driver as "Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR communications daughter card (CDC)" within the driver matrix screen, but as the "Modem driver (AMR daughter card) for Windows XP - ThinkPad R30" when you download the file. This driver should work, however since I have a slightly different machine (with the combo Mini-PCI version - rather then the separate modem module) I can say for certain. :?
You can download the Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) for the R30/R31 ThinkPads from IBM's website (it shows your modem Part# CDC 26P8070).
