Battery reconditioning tool???
Battery reconditioning tool???
Does one excist for A31 Laptops, I have used one before on older models, but nothing newer, I get alot of A31's T30's and T23's, and an issue I get ALOT, is that the battery will work fine then drop from like 50 percent to like 2 percent, but if I disable the alarms and low power shut off features in windows the battery will get down to 0 percnet and keep going. I have fixed this before with battery reconditiong tools, but that only works with the older batteries, (NIHM?) I think, Is there a reconditiong tool for Lithium batteries?

It looks like Thinkpad Configuration along with Battery MaxiMizer should do the trick. Actually, an easy way to install all the relevant IBM software is just to use Thinkpad Software updater: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... yle=lenovo

There are two different programs that claim you can reset the EEPROM on the SmartBattery chipset inside the battery. They claim that most of the issues you describe are actually a software issue. It requires the use of a Philips Standard I2C Parallel Port Adapter which can be constructed for a few bucks. The programs allow you to reset the chip to its initial values. I don't know of anyone who has tried them. Here are their home pages.

IBM has a battery reconditioning function wrapped up in its Battery Maximizer program, but I don't know if the option is available on an A31. I know that it isn't available on the T23 or the T30 (I think). I believe that the option comes in for the T4x and higher series.
As an alternative, if you read through the Battery Tips, in the Battery Maximizer program, it tells you how to recondition the battery manually for both NIMH and Li-Ion.
