The physical size of a TP Hard Drive

#1 Post by naryb69 » Fri Mar 03, 2006 4:22 pm

Hi,

I picked up a bit ago 2 A20's from my old employer. They were selling surplus equip.

Well they work fine but have 5 G HDs. I had another HD laying around and got the idea to upgrade.

But the IBM seemed to be a tiny bit bigger. Plus there is a tail assembly that helps in the extracttion which the other guy doesn't have.

Am I nuts or are the TP HDs bigger?

What brand or standard do I look for?

They vary in size. Laptop standards aren't as set in slate as destop standards are.

These other hard drives will most likely still work. You might just need to remove the A20's caddy or hard drive casing to be able to insert the new hard drive.

Try looking at the Hardware Maintenance Manual to figure out how to remove the casing. Smaller drives will work in the A20.
