Dead and blank screen. Can anyone advise?

#1 Post by billdou » Mon Mar 06, 2006 3:01 pm

Dear Forum,

I own an A21m from ~2001.

On Saturday, my laptop screen seemed to die. It was working then as I shifted the laptop, the screen went blank. Naturally, I've tried rebooting, et al, but nothing is helping. The hard drive is ok since I can use the computer using an overhead projector.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Should I accept the bad news?

Should I purchase a screen in the meantime?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Bill

Download this PDF: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mo ... 3p0896.pdf

And follow the directions inside to remove the LCD. Disconnect the LCD connector, reconnect it, and reassemble the laptop.

If that doesn't work, then order a new inverter for your LCD (part number listed in that manual).

And, if THAT doesn't work, you either need a new LCD or a new laptop.
