Thinkpad drive 8X DVD rom drives FRU 27L4213

Is the 8X DVD rom drives FRU 27L4213 a Drive that will work with the A31?
I can get one local from a computer supplus show for a price of $50 maybe less but want o know if it would be better than just going to ebay.

You can definitely get not just the DVD but a DVD / CDRW combo drive for about $40 to $50 shipped on eBay. The DVD should be no more than $40 shipped on eBay.

I actually paid about $55 for one about a year and a half ago on a "Buy It Now " for a DVD/CD RW combo drive so the prices should be much better now. Just be patient while searching. You can find the storage options for the A31 series here. This list is not comprehensive in that there are other storage parts created after this date that will still fit in the machine.

Thanks I did test this in my system it dose show up but we had no DVD media to a full test on the A31. I just want to not plug in the wrong type and kill there laptop.
