Help A21M Audio Problem

Bought a used A21M a couple of days ago. Have installed Win2K (retail version) and the updates from IBM site. However, there is no sound coming from the laptop speakers. Audio, when listened through the headphones, works fine though.

Do i need to install any other drivers OR is there a problem with the speakers, etc? Seller claims everything was working fine.

Note: no errors reported by Device Manager
on the sound, video & game controller
