Problems with new Access Connections

#1 Post by lutami » Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:08 pm

Since updating to Access Connections 4.11 i've had nothing but problems with my wireless connection.

Loses connection constantly...wont re-connect...gives error messages on wap/wep settings but i know they are correct...i have to constantly restart the lappy...i've tried using different channels but no difference at all to channel 11...still same problems...virtually given up using it in the evenings.

Is there any way i can get the previous AC back or if i use Windows to manage my connection can i uninstall AC.

Also how do i encrypt my wireless connection if i use Windows.

I have had similar issues with Access Connections (ver 4.02, then 4.11) where the connection would drop out, followed by the card shutting off, then would not turn back on, nor reconnect. I think there are some issued with the software. I reinstalled an older version 3.81 and have been happy since then. I suggest you try an older version (if you can find in).

:!: - if you remember when you installed access connections you could also do a "system restore" to get you back to the old AC.

Windows XP? You can use windows instead of AC for managing wireless networks (BTW - AC 4.XX seems to effect this as well so remove it, and/or reinstall an older version). Open help and search for "To connect to an available wireless network" - the steps are there.

Just to say over 24 hrs later i've not lost my connection once :) considering it was disconnecting constantly before i'm well pleased.

Removed AC 4.11 and don't think i'll replace it...connects on boot within seconds now.

Cheers Thane :)
