YAY brand new Z60m..woops its already dead

#1 Post by CDN_Z60m » Wed Mar 15, 2006 9:05 pm

Yeah 3 days after receiving my Z60m, nice wide screen..ATI video card, integrated fingerprint reader, mmm what a beauty. Yea after spending hours transferring GIGS of data from my old machine to this new one and just enough time to watch Fargo on my new DVD player.., the HD takes a cosmic dump and suddenly the fail-proof software can't even restore it to factory spec. Dead, done, finished, sionara, brain-death, self-lobotomy, .....goodbye Thinkpad.

UNBELIEVABLE

So I called Tech Support, patiently permitted them to walk me through a couple more recovery attempts, and then everyone concluded my machine was essentially a still-born and they're shipping me a new one now. Problem is I'm leaving the country in a few weeks for an overseas job contract - 1 year - (this was supposed to be my new machine for that exact purpose) so they've got limited time for replacement. I'm in Toronto Canada, so the distribution center is nearby thank god. Hopefully Lenovo comes through for me. Between the time I ordered and the time it arrived it was only 2 weeks, did not have the same shipping problems some American customers are having, so there is hope.

So I'm off to a good start, hello everyone on the boards

Received my new unit today, I have to say I am VERY impressed with Lenovo Canada's customer service. They were thorough and reassuring throughout the whole ordeal.. the entire process was expedited and there were no mix-ups of any kind. Now that I can see how the machine is supposed to act, I now know my previous machine was SCREWED. The HD would spin up and spin down on its own every few minutes and was continuously fidgeting and performing activities for no reason. This machine is calm and whisper quiet.

Hats off to Lenovo Canada, worth every penny so far.
