R51 harddsik stop when unpluged AC cable
I had this problem a while ago, just started happening for no reason.
Problem disappeared when i used Software Installer to update.
At a guess, updating the BIOS solved it.

FYI
Try this solution as I had problems with a R52 when removing AC whilst machine powered on and this fixed it.
The system may hang or freeze when the AC power is removed and the system is running on batteries.
Affected configurations
ThinkPad systems with Intel 2200 or 2915 wireless card with driver 9.x installed on systems with Intel integrated video.
Solution
Workaround:
Right-click the desktop.
Select Properties.
Select the Settings tab.
Click the Advanced button.
Select the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 for Mobile tab.
Click the Graphics Properties button.
Click the Power Schemes Settings button.
Click Intel Dual-Frequency Graphics Technology to remove the check mark.
Accept the changes.
Additional information
There is no way to recover other than to hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds to force a power off, and then reboot the system with AC power attached.
