A22m and USB?

#1 Post by BigWarpGuy » Wed Mar 22, 2006 1:24 pm

I have an A22m Thinkpad. It has one USB port. I tried enabling the USB port in the bios but there seems to be no mention of it. Where is the USB in the bios? What can I do to enable the USB port? :?:

Update or refresh bios?

#2 Post by BigWarpGuy » Mon Mar 27, 2006 1:36 pm

Would updating or refreshing the bios make a difference? Is the serial setting the setting for the USB port? :?:

too old?

#4 Post by BigWarpGuy » Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:12 pm

Is the A22m too old to worry about the USB port? Is it worth trying to get it to work? :?:

What OS are you running? If Windows, check the device manager for errors.

eComStation and Latest USB Drviers

#7 Post by BigWarpGuy » Tue Apr 04, 2006 6:06 pm

I am running eComStation 1.2 ( http://www.ecomstation.com ) and have installed the latest USB drivers for eCS. I thought there was something in the bios that would indicated if the USB is enabled or disabled. :?:

Try running pc dr for dos, seems like it might be more attributed to ecomstation than the bios.

USB Not Seen In Bios ?

#9 Post by BigWarpGuy » Wed Apr 05, 2006 12:53 pm

You mean the bios does not show an USB port because of eComStation being the operating system? I will check out the PC DR for DOS. DOS programs work pretty well with eComStation. Thank you for the information. 8)

USB and T23 and eCS

#10 Post by BigWarpGuy » Wed Apr 05, 2006 12:57 pm

I also have a T23 that is running eCS 1.1 and I am able to use the USB ports. It might not see all the USB drives but it does work with the Imation Flash Wristband ( http://www.imation.com ). 8) To see the bigger USB drives (size of memory and size of drive), I will be using the FAT32 driver for eCS (which might help me with the A22m; advice from http://www.os2world.com ). 8)

Hej,
I have a A21m and the USB kindof works. ... If nothing is plugged in during boot time. Otherwise it hangs. In (Slackware) Linux somewhere around loading rc.hotplug, in Windows somewhere around 3/4th of the graphical bar. Last available BIOS.

A22m and Port Replicator

#14 Post by BigWarpGuy » Thu Aug 10, 2006 7:54 am

I bought a port replicator for my A22m. It has an USB port. While I can not get the onboard USB port to work, the USB port is detected and seen by eCS 1.2. I used a USB thumb drive to transfer files to the A22m from a WinPC.

There was also a port problem that was solved with the port replicator. The onboard power port was faulty. Instead of fixing it, I just attach the power to the pr and attach the A22m to the pr. It works fine. :)
