Z60T Ram upgrade question

#1 Post by myrighteye » Thu Mar 23, 2006 11:11 am

I've got Factory 512MB RAM stick installed now. I'd like to purchase a 1gig DDR-2 533 stick to add on. My question is regarding Dual Channel, in order to optimize my speed, should the 2 RAM modules match exactly, (manufacturer, latency, speed, etc)? Are there any drawbacks to having a factory 521MB module and a aftermarket 1Gig module installed assuming they are the same speed. I don't need 2gigs for right now, so I'd like to get 1gig and later down the line, buy another gig when prices drop even further.

actually not. you can use the compatible DDR2 for upgrading purpose. I am now using the original Lenovo memory together with a kingston 512MB one. Working well....
