Screw Sets for Thinkpads
How come it is that every time I tear my TP apart, I end up with less screws to put it back together with than I took out of it 15 minutes prior? I think I got a screw eating monster in my carpet in my office or something. Anyway...
I've seen mentioned on this forum that "complete" screw sets can be obtained from IBM for $3-4 or something like that. Supposedly, you're suppose to use a new screw set every time you open it up anyway because of the locking nylon on the screws on many of the parts.
I've looked on eBay and there seems to be 4 screws in a bag for $3. that's not what I'm looking.
On to the question at hand. Does anybody happen to have the part number for a COMPLETE screw set for the A31 AND the phone number for ordering a set? I'm tired of not having enough. Me wants EXTRAS! LOL
Thanks.

Go to the ibm web site and look up parts for your particular model and the screw set will be there. You get the whole set plus the covers to replace the ones you have pull off. It is fairly cheap but the downside is the shipping cost. I think mine wound up costing like $9 or something. It is nice to have all those screws for future use too.

Yea. Funny thing is they look identical to the screws from every other TP I've ever torn into.Kyocera wrote:Wow, that is an outrage, just for the heck of it i double checked the price of the screw set for my t42 which i ordered about a year ago and it is now $7.50 not to bad of an increase. Your screws must be special. I wonder if you could get by using screws from another model????
I'm just gonna order a Txx or Rxx set I guess.
Screw Covers
I don't have any missing or loose screws. But I am misisng a couple of covers on my A31. Anyone know of any partnumber for any thinkpad that I could order that is cheap enough that I wouldn't be paying 3-4 dollars a cover? Thanks.

Is the nylon thread grip on those screws really a one time use thing?
