Question for WiFi Card for customized z60t

#1 Post by ThinkZ61 » Mon Mar 27, 2006 6:48 pm

I am trying to customize a z60t. This is my first time ordering from lenovo. While configuring it mentions,

Integrated WiFi wireless LAN - Wi-Fi wireless upgradeable (Standard)”

Does that mean that the Intel WiFi PRO/Wireless 2915ABG card is already included?

It also has option to add ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter.

Any suggestions, which wireless card, is more reliable?

Thanks. :P

which sub-model are you going with? If you custom order then you pick all of the options ala-carte.

The 2915 is the latest generation of the intel mini-pci card. So I would go with that for every day usage.

You mean a 2511-E4U? Tabook spec says: Some: 11a/b/g wireless4, ThinkPad 11a/b/g Mini PCI Express Adptr, Atheros AR5006EX

The model # shows 2511F4U. I am building the laptop completely. I just wanted to know which wireless card I should go with. Intel or ThinkPad one.

Thanks.

Hi a31pguy. One more question. I know this is off topic but when I try to customize, I get option to pick:

ThinkPad 2x Max DVD Recordable Ultrabay Slim Drive for $70 more and
ThinkPad 8x Max DVD Recordable Dual Layer Ultrabay Slim Drive for $56.00 than current configuration.

Shouldn't the 8x MAX Dual Layer DVD Recordable be higher in price? Am I missing something? I surely want the 8x (higher speed) one. Just wanted to make sure.

depends on the part number.

There is a ultrabay slim super multi-burner plus and a multi-burner plus. The super multi-burner plus drive burns dual layer (9.4 gb) dvd at 2.4x
and all the others at 8x speed.

The multi-burner plus burns 4.7 gb dvd-r, dvd+r, and dvd-rom media at 8x.

Super Multi-Burner Ultrabay Slim Drive Flat Bezel is selling for $259.00

and

Multi-Burner Plus Ultrabay Slim Drive is selling for $279.00

Flat Bezel is cheaper even though it's faster with 8x writing speed on DVD-R and DVD+R.

Yeah thats a hum dinger. Perhaps - they got a better price on the newer drive - or perhaps the non-flat bezel makes up the rest of the price? Unknown.

But I'd go with the flat bezel dual layer super multi-burner drive.
