Z60t screen brightness is quiet disappointing.
Z60t screen brightness is quiet disappointing.
I recently got Z60t (2551-F4U, PM 2MHz/512MB/80GB
/Titanium lid/DVD-RAM).
Everything looks O.K. Pretty portable, nicely equipped ports,
nicely designed. I got to love it.
But, One thing I have disappointed so far is the screen brightness.
Even after maxed out to 7/7 (highest) brightness, it's still dim
and not bright enough.
It's dimmer than previously owned R52(14"XGA), T43(14" SXGA+)
and HP dv1000 etc.
It's even par with my old TP600x (recently replaced screen).
I do know that Z60t comes with either samsung or LG panel,
and mine is equipped with samsung (200nit), I don't know
why 200nit is not enough bright.
How do you feel about your Z60t?
Thanks.

I must agree that the Z60T screen can be a little brighter. I don't have much to compare it to as it is on par with my old Sony Vaio... but considering what they have on notebooks nowadays, Lenovo should be able to do better. It is usable, but it makes my movies look like they were filmed on a cloudy day... Thanks to another post on this forum, I am now able to max out the screen brightness even when not plugged in.

Because real life brightness isn't always as manufacturers claim it is.jcan wrote:I do know that Z60t comes with either samsung or LG panel,

And anyway, this issue with unusually dim displays is a known one with Z60t. Even though on average it may be on par, or even brighter, than the 14" T4x panels, you may be unlucky and end up with one that is really dim.
Setting is O.K. Both AC and Batt are set to 7/7.
I wish I can increase the brightness couple of more levels up though.
Anyway, I am quickly accustomed to the given brightness,
so now it is much better feeling than beginning.
BTW, don't you have any leakage when screen is completly black?
I think the light leakage is coming from the backlight lamp at the
bottom of the screen. Well, except that, no other light leakage.
Thanks.

The Z60t have a 200nit screen. It is really brighter

Mine don't have any light leaking when showing
totally black colour. Very happy with mine!
Don't know why yours is dimmer.....? Setting Wrong....??
:::
Will this help?

it is true that the brightness of the display is not quite exciting. but some times, do you really that bright display? i think in most of the cases, you will work in-door but not in the sunshine for 24h x 7, right?
another consideration is that the standard z60t comes with only 4-cell battery, from the power consumption point of view, 200cd would be somehow better than 300+ I think

For comfortable outdoor working, even Flexview brightness is not always sufficient. The way I understood it, the brightness of some Z60t screens is quite low even for indoor working (except dark rooms).pizzaboy_2000 wrote:it is true that the brightness of the display is not quite exciting. but some times, do you really that bright display? i think in most of the cases, you will work in-door but not in the sunshine for 24h x 7, right?
