Z60m DVD+R problem
Z60m DVD+R problem
Hi,
I have Z60m 2529FBG. My DVD unit is UJ-830Sx.
The problem which I face is that cannot write DVD+R (at end off burning process I get error that session cannot be closed). I try this with Imation and Sony DVDs.
Also I have another 2 colleagues (they have the same model like me) and they face the same problem.
I want to mention that I write with success DVD+RW.
My question is if someone has this problem and if exist new firmware update for this unit.
Sorry for my bad English.
P.S.
I searched on list and not found that this problem was discussed.
Also I searched for firmware upgrade on Internet without success.
Thanks,
Gabi

Z60m DVD+R problem
I used Disc-at-once; the disks for which I got errors are unusable.
I the same conditions I wrotte the others (DVD+RW, DVD-R) and I got no errors and the disks are OK.

hello!
i've had some trouble with my burner so far as well. what software are you using? are you burning data disks? movies? other? and what speed are you burning at? i've found that 6x is about as high as i can go for a burn of decent quality.
thus far, i've used dvd decryptor to burn *.img files, and haven't had the greatest success. I only use fuji dvds, and the +r's i had are taiyo yudens, which i've had great success with in the past. the +r's work in my xbox, sony, toshiba, panasonic and harmon kardon dvd players, and the -r's only worked in the sony and toshiba players. this is when i burned it with my matshita drive in the thinkpad. now if i burn it with my no-name brand 8x dvd burner in my desktop, they more or less work in all players. i havent quite figured out the reasons there yet..
when i used intervideo windvd creator, i only tested that with my -r disks, and they didn't play in any players except pc dvd-roms. the -r disks were not taiyo yuden manufactured, so i'm left to conclude that it is a disk quality issue, and not a format issue. but i could be wrong, as i've given up my days of experimenting with different disks. i've burned a few hundred fuji +R's, wiht only maybe 2 coasters from the whole bunch.
so i suppose i've been ranting about burning movie backups and home videos.. and i dont even know if htat's what you're doing.
i have used the thinkvantage rescue and recovery to burn backups of my system, but i have not tested them.
regardless, thus far i have not burned any coasters with my thinkpad, in the sense that the burn process failed. there have been plenty of burns that are not as compatible as i liked (in particular with the -R fuji dvds).
in any case, i would try to check the manufacturer of your blank dvds, to see if it is reputable. you may find information at doom9.org:
http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php ... 61b95&f=60
that page often discusses media and media quality in much more objective terms than i've attempted. afterdawn may have some useful info as well:

good luck! and let us know if you find success.
