A31p problem with the new embedded controller version 1.02

#1 Post by stingbandel » Tue Jul 27, 2004 6:55 pm

I download the latest version, 1.02, and it gives me problem with the bay on the left side. On the left one, I have my extra battery and after the update, the bay stops working. I try to swap it with the dvd drive which I put on the right side and it still can't detect the dvd drive. I only get the beeps when trying to put the drive to the left bay.

Anybody having the same problem with me? Mine is A31p 2653 H5U.

Maybe someone experience the same problem and would like to share it here.

The problem goes away after I revert back to version 1.01.

thank you,

Darno

May be this behaviour was the reason that IBM withdrew the corresponding bios update. Just wait and see.

They have not withdrawn the embedded controller yet. What they have withdrawn is the BIOS 1.09.

thanks

Yup, having the exact same problem here and now my main battery isn't charging either.

So, is there an archive old older drivers and applications?

I'm just starting to search....

If you still want the prior version, try here:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/
I believe the file you want is: embd1g14.exe

hth

A31p problem with the new embedded controller version 1.02

#8 Post by friedrich-eugen » Tue Sep 28, 2004 4:39 pm

Well,

thank You stingbandel,

that is exactly what my problem is:

a 2653-H6G, Bios 1.09, Controller 1.02, 2nd Battery in the left hand bay is not seen & not working under Windows 2000.

a 2653-r5g, Bios 1.05, ..., 2 nd battery in the left hand bay is working fine (the same ultrabay 2000 lion battery) under Windows XP

Any guess...?

thanks a lot
