During the first hour after boot A31 switches from AC to DC.

Hello, I'm new to your group. I have a Thinkpad A31 that I bought refurbed 3 years ago and until the last couple of weeks it has been flawless. Now, for about 30 minutes to an hour after boot it switches reapeatedly to DC power (accompanied by a beep) and back to AC power from every few seconds to every few minutes. After about an hour it finally returns to AC and stays that way for the rest of the day. I run pedominately on AC with the battery installed and every time it switches to DC the battery runs down and when it goes back to AC it charges just the way it is supposed to. Does anyone have a solution? I live in northwest CT. and if it needs professional service, does anyone know of a reputable service center close to me?

Not sure if it will help, but are you running the latest Battery Maximizerprogram and the ACPI Power Management Drivers?

Does the plug in the back seat firmly into the A31?

 Thanks for the advise! It turns out that I needed to download the items that you mentioned. I will not know if it worked until tomorrow after it has been shutdown all night. The power cord is quite snug in the back of the laptop. Thanks for the info, I really hope it helps.
