Z60T Thinklight sort of useless

#1 Post by firefly2700 » Fri Apr 14, 2006 1:09 pm

I Thinklight on my Z60T is yellow and sort of dim, compared to a bright white light on my X22. I find the yellow color unusable and the light from the screen does a better job. Is this the same for everyone?

In theory, yellow is supposed to be better for not ruining your night vision.

I got a same experience.
Currently, I'm using T60 and thinklight is much better working than Z60t.
It really lights up whole keyboard now.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it was also yellow on some of the other Thinkpads; namely the R and X series.

Beats me why they decided to go with it on the Z60; although it actually *does* provide some good lighting if it is dark enough. Not sure if it is the same as the white ThinkLights on the T Series Thinkpads. Good idea to save your night-vision though.

My R40 is white blue/white light and is MUCH brighter than my T21's light.

Sorry, can't comment on the Z b/c I don't have one. But I'll give some feedback on the thinkpads I do have... my X31's thinklight is a bright white light, and my T42 is the same brilliant bulb (and arguably 30-50% brighter than my X series).

I am currently using a Z & T series. Yes, the Z is yellow and T is white, both seem to do a good job. When I place the two laptops side by side in a very low light condition they seem to provide the same amount of illumination. I tend to prefer the yellow as it lights up the area without being as noticeable as the while light.

I have a z60m with the Ti cover, and the thinklight is most definately "orange". When I see it on the keypad, its red/orange.

It seems to work decently well, if its dark enough, otherwise it just "helps" a little. Plus it doesnt quite reach to the end of the keyboards. Of course its better than nothing!

thanks for everyone's responses, i think Hockey's best sums up how I feel about the Thinklight. In honesty, it was not that dark of a room when I tried it. I'll try using it again in a darker setting. Z60t rocks though.
