I was taking apart one of my old dell laptops (broken, was going to sell the working parts on ebay) when i noticed that the DVD drive had a connector similar to that of my laptop's CD drive (minus the adaptor). When i attached the adaptor i was able to plug in the DVD drive to the laptop. It booted up fine and XP automatically detected and installed the drivers. The only problem is that the front face plate (the thing with the eject button) had to be removed so it could fit im my laptop. I was wondering if anyone knew where i could buy just the face plate. i tried googling it but all i get is the entire thing (about $115) with a thinkpad faceplate. Any help would be greatly apriciated (spelling?).
Thanks
PS: the DVD drive's model number is SBW-242 and it is a Quanta DVD/CD-RW drive.
Faceplate
You can't get just the faceplates, sorry.
Either modify the existing one or leave it off.
Sometimes, faceplates are interchangable between drives from the same manufacturer, so if there was a Thinkpad CD drive, for instance, from Quanta its faceplate might fit the DVD drive if you found a DOA one for sale.

James
