Restoring a z60t back to "Out of Box" condition?
Restoring a z60t back to "Out of Box" condition?
Will one of the ThinkVantage button options get my z60t back to the way it was Out-of-the-box? I would want the hard drive re-imaged and the security chip reset, including the fingerprint settings cleared, for a new user. I'm sure there must be an easy way, but wanted to know if the way to a "like-new" config was via the Blue Button!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Press the "ThinkVantage" button. You can restore to factory default. If something happened, and you can't, just give 'em a call.
I blew out my MBR today when I screwed up loading Ubuntu on a USB drive. The restore console is locked because of the way they load thier systems, and won't work (password protected). I explained it to customer service, and they said they's have a Recover CD to me Tuesday morning. That's sevice!

Press the ThinkVantage Button at the start of the boot sequence to enter the Rescue and Recovery workspace and begin the restore process.
Press the ThinkVantage Button while in Windows to learn how to use your ThinkPad.
From pressing the equivalent button (Access IBM) while in Windows on my T42 I would go to: Learn > Protect & Recover > Recovery Procedures > then click on the appropriate links:

Access IBM Help wrote:Using the Restore factory contents method
1. Make backup copies of your data files, if possible. Any files on drive C that are not backed up will be lost.
2. Turn off your computer for at least 5 seconds. Turn on the computer. When the following message is displayed, press the blue Access IBM button: "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue Access IBM button." The IBM Rescue and Recovery workspace opens.
3. Click Restore factory contents and follow the instructions on the screen. Additional help is available from the Rescue and Recovery workspace.
* Note: Your computer might restart during the recovery process, possibly more than once. When the recovery process is finished, your computer displays a message to let you know that the recovery is complete.
