I've never used the fancy new 7K100 drives, but I installed a 7K60 drive (7200rpm, 60GB) in my A20m and it worked great. No issues, hassles, or troubles at all.

I bought the machine used and never changed the BIOS.

On the other hand, the machine has BIOS version 1.13, which is the most recent version.

New HD for the A series ThinkPad

#6 Post by naryb69 » Fri Apr 21, 2006 11:36 am

Hi,
I have 3 A Series think pads I got at my old place of employment (downsizing0. They all have 5 G hard drives and I would love to get a bit bigger 10 or 20 at low cost.

Pretty much the use of these are for me and the kids when we are traveling on vacation doing lite emial, net surfing, games and an occasional bit of homework. Which is why I don't want to spend much.

I had a 30 G Hitatchi laptop HD of unknown origin that I though would be a perfect upgrade. When I pulled the TP HD out it came in a nice cradle and was easy. But when I compared the TP HD to the other I found it to be a larger. The Hitachi was smaller by a small bit in length and width and I am not sure the pins matched.

When I am looking for my bargain HD what am I looking for? Is there a size or something I should specify?
