R40 - Crack near hinge... cause for concern?

#1 Post by toronto » Wed Apr 19, 2006 10:21 pm

Hi all,

Just picked up my R40, and I don't recall the crack when I bought it (2nd hand), so it might very well have been me... but is this any cause for concern:

Thanks in advance...

PS I'll be using it quite frequently - so is there any technique, or area I should push down on so that I won't worsen the situation.

looking at that crack, it does not appear to be bad..

the test is if the crack flexes when you open and close the top..
if so, then you might want to take the top cover off and reinforce the cracked area with epoxy..

or you can buy a new cover and replace it..

if it were me i would press the seller to give you some $$ back or exchange it for one that is not cracked..
assuming that it was represented as being in good condition and that the crack was not mentioned when you made the deal..

Hey,

First, sorry about the photo - forgot to just link
Second, thanks for the reply - I notice a little flex - but very very minor when I close the lid... I am hesitant to open the laptop and play around, but can I apply the epoxy on the exterior instead of interior?

Thanks in advance!
