R50e Issues

#1 Post by fast_orb » Mon Apr 24, 2006 12:44 pm

First up, Hello chaps!!

I am ORB, first post, so best to introduce myself :)

So, now to the issue in hand.

I have a R50e and for what i need, i love it!!

But

the same week, from the same outlet, a frien of mine bought an R50e of the same spec.

My one burns DVD's without hassle, and the result is always fine.

Katy's (my mate) wont burn a DVD at all. If we do the same things from different machines on the same software at the same time, mine will burn fine, hers wont.

It looks like it is doing all it should, but when the DVD is 'finished' there is nothing on the disk.

I have checked that it is burning to the correct drive, and not to file, I have tried installing other software (nero, dvd santa among others) but it does the same :(

Oh, I use the standard install of Intervideo Windvd most of the time.

Any hints guys :?: :?: :?: :?:

Thanks

ORB

Not sure if it will help, but try swapping the two drives around (yours in hers and hers in yours).

This will help determine if it is a software problem, or a problem with the drive itself.

If by that, you are referring to the drive swap, then yes; it is quite easy.

That should rule out any hardware problems related to the optical drive. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Yes, swapping the drives is easy. If you are not sure how, you can check out the Hardware Maintenance Manualfor your system. It will show you precisely how to swap them out.

P.S.

since swapping a working drive to the laptop doesnt work indicate something wrong with the laptop systems...
maybe a OS problems or software problem

remove all traces the burning software completely and then reinstall again and try it
else restore the system using , i think, access IBM
