After a lot of time and a lot of work I was able to get my first IBM ThinkPad R30 set up with Windows 2000 Pro (fresh install) and as of Saturday the correct driver for the screen; however, I do not have DVD playing functionality on it. Now I have a 'new' one loaded with Windows 98 SE and with PowerDVD software which works great.
The first thing that happened to me on this one is Blue Screen. I noticed this happened after I had (before powering it on) plugged in a Dell USB mouse. When I powered off and then removed the USB mouse, the Windows 98 system works again.
My personal preference is to go through setting up Windows 2000 Professional on this one (I am a Microsoft Systems Developer and have the proper licenses). In order to get DVD playing to work on this R30, what do I need (what do you recommend) that is provided or is 'free'

There is a good program with all the codecs called K-Lite. I have used it on several systems that didn't have Power DVD.
Thank you.
Yesterday I got a surprise on a twin ThinkPad R30 running Windows 98 when I plugged in a USB mouse and powered up the PC. It blue screened. After I realized that it was the USB mouse, I powered off and removed the mouse. Now the system works fine.
Is there anything that can be done to provide a mouse for the R30 in Windows 98 SE ?
I have run all the Windows 98 updates from Microsoft (except for all the languages).
