MiniPCI wireless cards in a R32

#1 Post by lparsons » Fri May 05, 2006 1:52 pm

Hello
I have heard that there are booting issues on certain thinkpad models related to using "unapproved" miniPCI cards. My R32 has a wireless B card in it, and I've been looking at wireless a/b/g cards to replace it with.

Does anyone have a list of the cards that work? I have heard suggested before tha tthe miniPCI is hot-swap OK, and you could actually boot with the original IBM card, and then swap to your other card after starting up. I'd rather not do that, though, partially because I usually don't run windoze.

I found an intel a/b/g miniPCI card fairly cheap, does anyone know if this one will work?

Also, I don't care about modem functionality. I don't even have a land line in my house right now, so its a rather moot point whether or not I lose my modem by removing my miniPCI card, as I may have read somewhere this card is linked to...

You can also use the no-1802.com file to get past any problems with "Unauthorized" cards.
