Backpack for Z60m with 9-cell battery

#1 Post by chiron80 » Thu May 11, 2006 12:22 pm

Now that I have my new Z60m, I want to protect it when I haul it to and from school every day. I've been searching for a good computer backpack, but I've yet to find one (that I like) that comfortably fits the Z60m with the 9-cell battery.

The closest I've found so far include:
Outdoor Products: Power Pack (fits snuggly side-to-side, but deep enough pocket)
One bag from Targus (plenty of room)
While the Targus bag fits, it seems like carrying around a Targus bag is carrying around a sign saying "Come steal my laptop".

The Z60m seems to fit snuggly in the packs from Wenger, but the pocket is not quite deep enough... although it fits, I'm worried that the zipper will ding up the corners of the laptop. If the pocket was 1/2" deeper, I think it would be fine.

Has anyone had luck finding a bag that comfortably fits the Z60m (with the 9-cell battery)? The other requirement is that it can fit the laptop AND all my other crap (usually a textbook or two, a three ring binder, and three or more folders).

I've been hesitant to shop online because I don't want to get the back and find out that although it says it fits "most 15.4"", it doesn't fit the Z60m.

There's another thread on sleeves, but it doesn't discuss backpacks.
Best sleeve/case/bag for z60m????

I have the Wenger Synergy with a 2529eau (9 cell) battery. It works just fine. The zippers don't touch the computer once it settles down to the bottom of the sleeve. It does not rub the computer either when I place the pack on my back.

Just don't drop the bag on its top and you will be ok. There is no padding on the corners where the zipper comes close.

I have been really happy with the Wenger. I searched for a while backpacks that look descent and have alot of room for other stuff. I don't think anything comes close to this bag. I even looked at high end stuff from Tumi and Victorinox. (Well they want you to think it is high end. My last Tumi bag lost the stitching after 2 years).

Paul.
