R50P New Mainboard now no video

#1 Post by astroden » Sun May 14, 2006 7:06 pm

Hi everyone, my name is Michael and I am having a problem with my R50P, the laptop completely died a few weeks ago so I sent it to IBM, they told me the mainboard needed to be replaced, they quoted me a price of about $800, at the tme I did not have the money. recently I saw an R50P mainboard on Ebay for $299 so I thought I would give it a shot, I received the replacement board and installed it, my problem now is I have no video with the thinkpad screen, it lights up but no image, I can use an external monitor and it all works fine. is there something I need to do to get the LCD screen to work or is the screen not compatible with the mainboard I installed.

Thanks
Michael

The BIOS may have a setting that outputs the video
to an external monitor.
Try setting it to the R50's LCD instead.

Gave that a shot ARD and still the same results, I wondering if there is some key stroke that will help reset or bring the video to life... very strange.
