If you are buying a Thinkpad Z60t, here's a few things you might want to know about.
- 1. When you first turn on the Thinkpad, it wants to convert the primary partition from FAT32 to NTFS. WTF? You'd think that they would have formatted the partition to NTFS at the factory!
2. It was a pain removing Symantec Antivirus Corp and Norton Firewall. My first try uninstalling Norton failed. Good thing I backed up the system before trying to uninstall.
3. There seems to be two programs to update Thinkpad software, ThinkVantage "Software Installer" and "System Update" (Java program). If you are going to run your updates manually, I recommend using "Software Installer".
4. I uninstalled ThinkVantage Access Connections. It required about a half-dozen services and startup programs, and I did not need it.
5. Also, disabled fingerprint scanner and encryption software, since I do not plan to use these at this time.
6. This is not a problem, but my Z60t goes into standby when the lid is closed only 45 degrees.
# CPU: Pentium M 740 1.733GHZ
# Serial ATA 40GB Hard Disk Drive
# 512MB RAM Memory (upgraded to 1gb dual-channel)
# WiFi 802.11 a/b/g
# Integrated Fingerprint reader and secure chip
# 14" 1280x768 WXGA LCD
# Gigabit ethernet
# 4.53 lbs travel weight
That's all for now....
UPDATE: I just upgraded the RAM to 1gb. I had to take off the keyboard to get to the RAM slots.
If you need to take off the keyboard, this site may help:

BTW: I ran Memtest86+ and it confirmed that the two sticks of RAM was running dual-channel!
