A31p thinks it's always on AC, even when on battery only

#1 Post by chipmonger » Wed Jun 07, 2006 10:15 pm

Have a new (to me) A31p - model 2653-R8U. I love the machine, but have a problem I haven't encountered before. The unit thinks that it's always on AC power, even when only running on battery. This happens on both Linux and Windows, so it isn't an OS or driver issue.

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem? I don't have a spare battery to swap out.

Thanks,

Ken

You will most likely need a new system board. I had it happen to two A31 system boards, no other solution found.

P.S. Make sure your embedded controller and BIOS are up to date.
