Hello,
I'm a new ThinkPad owner, having purchased an R51e from Lenovo under their attractive price and rebate offer. I've used Windows and ThinkPad machines in the past, but am mainly a Mac user, so please bear with me.
Here are the symptoms:
TrackPoint is hypersensitive after hibernation, stand-by or reboot. Not the drifting behavior that others report, but mindlessly executes a series of left-clicks wherever it is parked, even though my hands are nowhere on the keyboard, trackpoint, or buttons. Windows open and close, maximize or minimize, etc.
During this same period, if I'm typing as I am right now, and the cursor is somewhere back in the text, a left click gets generated seemingly at random and I end up typing the new text in the middle of the line, forcing me to go back and edit.
After 20 minutes or so of use, things seem to return to normal.
I've downloaded and installed what I think are the latest drivers and other little bits that Microsoft and ThinkVantage seem to think I need, but the problems persist. And I've also changed the various trackpoint and mouse settings to try to solve the problem.
Any suggestions or help much appreciated. But please bear in mind, I'm sorry my Windows competencies are not more highly developed.
Best to all.
Rob

There are a few possibilities; it could be that, for whatever reason, something is triggering the trackpad physically and generating clicks. There are certain regions of the Trackpad that have sensitivities and pre-programmed behavoir to match what you describe (minimizing windows, maximizing windows, etc). Does it continue to happen even if you stop typing?
Another possbility is spyware; you should run a spyware scan just in case as some spyware can make your cursor click and move on its own.
Make sure that you have only the UltraNav drivers installed as your mouse drivers. Others can interfere with the operation of the Trackpoint and Trackpad and/or render either one in-operable.
