Hi, all,
with the current heat wave peaking today, I was wondering whether the temperature of my CPU is still ok, or whether I might want to clean out the heat dissipation path. It's currently at 75°C (167°F) (as reported by the ACPI), and it likes to approach 85°C (185°F) when I run some CPU-intensive stuff. As a UNIX addict, I don't have access to a Windows installation on my box, so I can't run the usual diagnostics ... anyone who owns an A30p care to look at their CPU temperature, and at possible comments from diagnostic software?
And wow, only typing this text has brought the temperature up to 76°C, and it's not like I'm a fast typer or anything.
cheers,

i dont know much about the a30p- what processor is it? my r40 is labeled as a lap warmer, so i dont think many others get as hot as it does- mine has never gone above 70C at full load, so i suspect you have a problem. is your fan spinning?

The A30p sports a Pentium III Mobile, clocked at 1.2GHz.dsigma6 wrote:what processor is it?
Yes, when heavy work is being done. Right now (start xemacs, find and fontify some files; start mozilla, get mail, render a few web pages), it's resting. Wanna see it spin? OK, I'll start eclipse ... :-)dsigma6 wrote:Is your fan spinning?
