#1 Post by G2007 » Wed Aug 11, 2004 12:14 pm

Is there any problem with right palmrest heat with the r50/51 as there is on the T4x series?

Palm rest heat.

I bought Bill Morrow's personal R50p just a bit ago and the wrist rest is cool as a cucumber! I haven't experienced any of the other different problems mentioned as being present on a R50. This thing is the "bomb" for sure. I assume that Bill fixed any of the issues that were present before I bought it.

I recomend calling Bill. If you require a trouble free Thinkpad, every time, look into buying one of his personal units.

Cheers!

As long as the harddrive is under the right palm, there will be some heat over there. My solution for that was to open the palm rest, take an aliminum folio and fold it once then put under the palm rest. No more heat now. It is not a difficult task. You can watch a movie about opening the palmrest at ibm's support site. Now I am happy with my T41 :)

in my R51 1829 EHG with 4200rmp HDD palmrest heat is acceptable.
only while using WLAN it got uncomfortably warm around the touchpad.

I've had my R51 for a couple of months now and there is very little palmrest heat. Even when using my laptop under strenuous conditions for several hours there really isn't a problem with the palmrest heat.

I replaced my T41 with R 51 (1830 BQU) There is really no palm heat in R 51. T41 was so thin that you could easyly feel the heat when you run the computer. R 51 is a little bit thicker but better.

I've been running an R51 for about a month now, and I've had no problems with warm palmrests on either side.

When my hands are above but not touching the keyboard I feel some warmth, but the machine is cool to the touch, even during strenuous computing work.
