Z60M Crashes after update

#1 Post by sliston32 » Sun Jul 16, 2006 6:52 am

Hello I’m new to this forum, I bought a Z60M last week after much though and was initially very pleased with it. That was until yesterday when updating system update version 2 my machine failed to reboot after the installation had finished(unilstalled the previous version liked it asked and downloaded the 1.2gig file with the new version). I was stupid enough not to have made boot disks yet and now im kind of lost. Has anyone else had this problem as the update is kind of new. Is it possible to use the EISA partition to reboot the system from scratch or do I need the disks which I have sent a request for already.

Thanks

Sean

"EISA"..?
if you mean the european imaging and sound association i can't see as how THAT would help you at this point..

have you rebooted into the recovery partition..?

you should press the blue thinkvantage button when the first splash screen appears after a hard reboot.. this should put you into the recovery area and you can recover the system from there..

sorry i mean the partition where all the windows and think vantage software is stored. I cannot access the thinkvantage suite as it just brings me to the bios logon screen which at the moment is not really much help. im probably screwed and will need to reboot with the disks from Lenovo when they arrive as i dont have a genuine windows copy. either that or im out of my depth.......
is it possibel to burnthe thinkvantage softwareon to a disk and boot from that, just an idea

The machine is so new, it sounds the best course of action is to reimage according to IBM. Then try to update it either with System Installer or manually and see if it works. If not, consider returning it. It should already be an SP2 machine, so the need to do IBM updates is not essential at this point. ... JD Hurst
