Searching for the best webcam

#1 Post by natxo » Mon Jul 24, 2006 5:40 am

Hi,

I'm searching for a webcam, that fits perfectly in my Z60m, I considerig these models:

Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro
Creative Live Cam Notebook Pro
Creative Live! Ultra for Notebook

anyone has experience with this webcams? anyone can suggest other alternative? My interest is that the webcam's clip can hold on my screen without superglue,

thanks in advance for your help

My suggestion:

Get a used camcorder from eBay and use it as camcorder. To my opinion, few webcam can be as powerful as a camcorder. I have beening using this for two years and all friends were surprised that my "webcam" is so vivid and clear.

Any used digital one will do. Not necessarily the latest. A sony one might be better as sony is good at low light conditions.
currently own X61S, T42, X31, Macbook Pro Unibody i5

That's sounds pretty good, but I need something small and that I can attach to the screen..

The BEST webcam, handsdown, without a doubt, is the logitech Fusion. It has what the other camera do not have:
widescreen view
excellent colors & clarity even in low light
built in mike with echo canceling
works great with skype and windows messenger, both free programs\

It usually sells for $100, but can be ogtten cheaper on ebay & when on sale. (cirsuit city had it on sale for $60).....

Most other PC cams on the market are horrible.

When installing the software, download the latest version from logitec if you can and DO NOT plug in the camera until the installation asks you to. Then WAIT, up to a few minutes, while the software finds the camera. Then make sure you run thru the wizards and camera settings, otherwise it will not work correctly.
If something ever screws up, or you lose some settings, just run thru the wizard and camera settings again and all will be fine. All in all the camera is very stable and you will be amazed and happy with the picture quality.

I have the fusion but dislike the multi-megabytes of drivers it requires to run and the stand/clip thing that just never seems to work for me.

This site has a few reviews:

Also Microsoft just released some cameras which appear ahead of the crowd on the datasheets:

They also have a new webcam for the xbox360 which will also work on a PC (Vision camera).
