Z61m Zoom Feature stopped working

#1 Post by RHicksted » Fri Jul 28, 2006 2:18 am

:(
I recently received the Z61m and liked the zoom feature Fn + spacebar which alternates between the default 1680 x 1050 and 960 x 600 resolution. The latter was displayed over the entire screen providing a zoom feature. This stopped working and now the 960 x 600 resolution is displayed center screen with a black border and correspondingly no zoom. I must have inadvertently changed some other setting. Has anyone had a similar experience and corrected this problem.

:)

After an exhaustive search I found a configuration parameter that resolves the problem and activates the "Full Screen Magnifier".

Start|All Programs|ThinkVantage|Thinkpad Configuration

Select the LCD icon

Set the Screen expansion to Enable.

Thanks for following up with a detailed explanation of the solution. I had the same problem after a video card driver update.

On a related matter, I spent a lot of time trying to determine how to change the size of the zoomed image. Mine was zoomed in too much. I looked all over and then found that when you zoom in, there is a task bar icon for zoom (never noticed it before...) where you choose the amount of zoom (250%, 200%, 160%, 130%). Zoom feature will remember your preferred setting.
