A31p and high air temperature

#1 Post by savarin » Fri Jul 28, 2006 10:34 am

For 6 weeks between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. the air temperature in my room varies from 42 to 44 degrees C. And weather prognosis does not promise any changes. There is no air condition here. The desk is not so hot (marble).

A31p works fine, without problems, fan works sometimes only, there is no need. I have noticed only one change - the battery life has decreased from 2,5 hr. to one hour.

But IBM/Lenovo recommends operational air temperature between 5 and 35 degrees C only!

That is why I am affraid my A31p could be damaged. Please, have anybody experiences how long can Thinkpad be used in temperature higher than recommended?

I suggest you look into something like this if your room is
44C.

Should be around 30°C~28°C in Prague now, no?

If so, 44°C is pretty darn hot for a room/office where you do your work.

The higher temperature affects the battery lifetime somewhat; although, as long as humidity isn't that much of a problem, you can go ahead and use your A31p. If you want, you can get temp monitoring software, and even TP FCU, to monitor and adjust your A31p so it stays within an optimal range. :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Gentlemen, I am happy you had a good time ...:-)

I am happy to read I can continue in using my A31p. I was afraid in particular the extremely high temperature and Pentium 4 are incompatible.

But now I can recommed you - feel free to use your A31p in Sahara!
