R40 Hard Drive Replacement

#1 Post by SWG » Sun Aug 06, 2006 6:48 pm

Hi,

I am about to replace the hard drive on my 3 yr. old R40. The original drive was a Hitachi 60G, 5400 rpm, ATA-2, EIDE with ultra DMA.

I am considering a Hitachi 60 G, 7200 rpm, ATA-6 drive. Any reason why this will not work? Same physical dimensions as the original. The IBM/Lenovo site has little information on HD upgrades.

Thanks for any info. or suggestions.

As long as it is PATA and not SATA, it will work just fine.

Yep, I agree, should work nicely...if you have an ultrabay second hard drive adapter you can grab an eval copy of Acronis True Image (recommend purchasing if you like it, works great) and you'll be all set...
