a. Overall fit and finish are well above expectation. - Cosmetically the machine is exceptional. Yes I would have preferred Lenovo to retain the original UltraNav of the T4x series with the shape and color layout of the buttons and touch pad as well as the original keyboard color scheme. The consistency of material texture is on par with the T43 I currently use. I was a bit concerned about have a plastic LCD lid of the Z60m but Lenovo has used what appears to be a good grade of material as the lid feels solid. The only area of flex that would cause concern is between the hinges when the lid is closed. It will be interesting to note if this flex is eliminated when the lid is changed to the titanium shell.
b. Excellent 16:9 screen. - This model has the 1680x1050 wsxga+ screen. I have the same screen on my T43 in 14.1” format. As far as I am concerned this is the minimum usable resolution for a laptop. While this screen my not be the Flexview, I find the display to be very pleasing with a better viewing angle than my T43. It also looks as if the screen will not impact the keyboard which will be a nice change from the T4x series.
c. The size of the laptop overall is quite surprising. - While I expected a wider notebook the added thickness is unexpected. A marginal increase in thickness would not be unreasonable but the added thickness of the Z60m is strange considering the internals are roughly comparable to the T4x.
In conclusion I like my new Z60m. I really like it for the $1049.00 outlet price. The only changes I would have made to the configuration would have been the replacement of the nine cell battery for the six as I hate the battery sticking out the back and I would have added the titanium cover. All in all a good laptop so far.
