R50e 12mm slot w/a 9mm optical drive?

I purchased a ThinkPad R50e recently which has a 12mm optical drive slot. I mistakenly purchased a 9mm Panasonic ultraslim dvd/cd rw combo drive to go into this slot. I put the 9mm drive into the 12mm slot and the drive works fine, however, it obviously doesn't fit correctly, thereby allowing the drive to move as well as allowing dust to enter the computer.

Is there some sort of kit or another way to modify a 9mm drive (such as changing the bezel or an aftermarket kit) in order to make it fit correctly in a 12mm slot? I mistakenly purchased the 9mm drive from a fellow on eBay and can't return it.
