LCD Question

#1 Post by Brytowski » Sun Sep 10, 2006 9:05 am

Ok I tried browsing through the forums and even searching but could not find an exact answer to my question....

Basically I have 2 A22m 2628-STU's one the board doesnt work correctly (Intermittently powers off, if you let it sit will stay on for over 30mins but each time after that it will be less and less until it does not even get past the Splash screen. I did see some fixes for this and have attempted all but reseating the CPU I need to pick up more thermal grease before attempting)

The other does not have an LCD assembly at all but the board works perfectly. Now before just trying to swap the boards I tried to just go the easy route and take the LCD assembly off of one and put it onto the other, once completed and the powered on nothing happens, lights come on but no POST the screen lights up a little but no data is displayed and nothing happens. I did read somewhere that all serial #'s are stored on the board (for major components) and the serial would need to be changed for the LCD prior to doing this.....but alas I do not have the Thinkpad Maintenance Diskette (v1.6) so this cannot be completed....ALSO I have another A22m 2628-TSU with a board that works but an LCD on the fritz (only works when you put pressure directly on the top of the LCD) and when attempting to swap the working LCD onto this laptop the same thing happens.....

So basically what am I doing wrong? Am I missing a step? Is there a certain part that needs to be kept consitent that I am not swapping?

any help would be great

Thanks

is this disketee thing true?

I think he has a bad inverter or something else.Maybe the pins are in a different configuration? I hear some will plug right in but the pins need to swapped around
