r32 main board/video problem?

#1 Post by defenbacher » Sun Sep 10, 2006 11:22 pm

Hi

I've got an R32 that's having some problems. It was running well for a while (long enough to install ubuntu and boot it several times, everything working normally) but now it seems to have crapped out. Video started getting distorted when certain parts of the case are pressed/flexed. So video would get all scrambled and it would occassionally reboot. Now, it seems, it won't boot at all. Power light comes on and the drives spin up, but no video, and it eventually shuts back down.

The fickleness of the onset of the problem makes me think it's just a loose connection of some sort somewhere. Perhaps i'll open up the case and have a look. But has anyone else had this kind of trouble that could offer some advice? And what's this about an extended warranty that can be purchased (I've seen several people link to that on this forum, and I was wondering if I would be elligible).

Thanks all

The R32s have video issues and it is most likely a bad system board. But, you could check all of the connections...
