a31 1.6ghz 2652-c3u power adapter problems!! (wont charge)

Ive read about the motherboard (planar) going bad on these units, and causing all kinds of issues with charging and battery handling. its an a31 and here is exactly what it is doing:

When I plug in the adapter (to the back of the laptop), the little battery light quickly flickers orange then it goes to green. Under no circumstances will it charge the battery, whether it is on or off. When there is *no* battery in the laptop, it gives a "critical low battery" warning, then turns itself off. When it is plugged in, the battery does not *discharge*, either. the laptop will run OK with a charged batt and if i never unplug it, but that's NOT COOL! since how the hell am i supposed to keep charging the batt??!! needs a new motherboard, right?? :(

New system board needed, is my experience. Replaced two on one A31 with similar issues. My third board seems to be doing fine.
