i want to upgrade my disc to 100GB 7200 but someone told me that IBM have a driffernt model for HD. is it right ? and if yes, how can i know what is the right model ??

this is the 2 models that is the reguler model for 7200 100GB that i know:
Hitachi:
http://www.hitachigst.com/portal/site/e ... 0eac4f0a0/
(in the this page near the model write that "Additional models IBM-legac models" but when i click i get the smae page")

Seagat:
http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/dis ... 70,00.html

Can someone help me to find the right model.

Wy do you need a partnumber? I asume a regular 2.5' harddrive would fit the Z serie.
22-09 the date i will recieve my Z61T!

IBM History:
600E
600X
T20
T21

Yes, a regular one would fit. Remeber to keep the shock-mount rubber and the other stuff from ur old drive that came with ur machine.
I just bought a Hitachi 7200rpm sata 100GB off ebay. It works perfectly.

Make sure you get the Serial ATA version though.

The part numbers that will work are:
100GB Disk 9.5mm SATA150 (5400 rpm) 40Y8721
100GB Disk 9.5mm SATA150 (7200 rpm) 41N3013

Hai, i am anewbie here.

Will replacing the hardrive deactivates the anti shock protection from thinkpad? Is there any particular specs when looking for the new harddisk?

Thanks

It won't deactivates Active Protection.
Basicly you want a 9.5mm thick, 2.5" size , Serial ATA connector harddrive.
I replaced my 60g drive on my z61t with a hitachi 7200rpm 100g drive. It works perfectly fine.
